If you tune to a song and start recording, you'll be able to record only (to my knowledge) from the point in the song where to you tuned to it.B) It seems as though you can only use the receiver to receive XM signals if you purchase the separate antenna headphones, which I haven't tried yet. I've been using this receiver for several days now with no problems whatsoever, before or after I upgraded the firmware. The unit (without a dock) only has the XM proprietary interface socket a the bottom, and no separate socket for an antenna.C) The unit charges well (when docked) and communicates easily with a PC via USB. There are several XM proprietary limitations to this receiver being "portable" that some people want to know about. I was looking for a completely portable receiver that I could use outside of a home/office and/or car, so I've listed a few things below that you might want to know before purchasing:A) Recording XM programming works. I loaded one MP3 onto it and it plays well and shows the ID3 tags (song title and artist name)D) Searching by artist is very easy, and Tune Select bookmarks allow you to select certain artists or certain titles. When those titles are playing, you'll receive a reminder.E) This product comes with a car kit, but does not come with an AC adapter (to plug into a home outlet)F) The remote control works well, but scrolling is slower than using the controls on the unitG) The unit has a stereo input and aux setting, so you don't have to worry about unplugging it and plugging in your iPod in the car or at homeOverall, it's a really good receiver for the sale price (under $40.00).
received this product promptly in new retail packaging works great no prob with reception in home or auto dont even need the sure connect maybe i am lucky my location middle georgia not big city without a lot of interference do highly recommend home kit though for flexibility leave mine on cradle at home always fully charged.awesome product and great deal at 35.00 dollars.
I purchased a Delphi portable radio receiver with a vechicle kit, much easier then the old one which was more bulky. I also feel that the music sounds clearier. My husband listens to it on a daily basis, every time he enters his car. Xm is really the way to listen to the music of your chose.
Unfortunately it wasn't long before the device began to freeze constantly. When it did work correctly it was quite a treat. It's many functions were ideal for me. After about a year the screen only worked intermittently and then soon after it failed to work at all. Maybe their newer versions work better but I doubt it.
If you are in the car, the car key must be in "power on" position or must have your engine turned on. In addition, every time I start my car, the radio turns on automatically even I don't intend to use it. I have been XM customer for four years and bought this Skyfi3 receiver in May 2009. Thirty years ago I was at least able to carry a bulky transistor radio anywhere I went, but not this one in the 21st. P.S. Unless you plan to purchase its Wearable Kits or an Antenna Headphones, which costs as much as the radio itself, you can't use it outdoors or anywhere without a cradle and power outlet. Other less critical issues include its menu system, which is utterly confusing and unintuitive to navigate.
Comparing to my old XM2Go radio (not mention iphone, ipod, Black Jack, and even my LCD TV), I found this unit a lot more time-consuming to navigate through its various functions. It turns out to be a major disappointment to me, because to listen to XM live programming you must BOTH plug the radio in its cradle (at home or in the car) AND the cradle HAS TO be plugged into a power outlet, even the radio's battery is fully charged. It sometimes would "forgot" preset FM frequency, so I have to reset it again and again in order to listen to it via car stereos. I can't imagin another product with this kind of redundancy - it totally negates any benefit of its compact size, light weight, and battery life (Why would it even need a battery if one has always to plug it into power outlet. century). I have to say its designers and marketers still live in the stone age, at least their minds do.I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. If your unit locks up (it will happen once in a few days), just press at the same time both "mode" key in the front and "volume+" key at the side.
